Web addresses getting much simpler
Today I accidentally just typed 'google' into the address bar and it took me to http://google/ which was, surprisingly, google.

I typed in 'gooogle' in the address bar (on purpose) and it took me to this site: http://www.goggle-search-engine.org/googelei.html |

It works for me, but this depends on your computer's configuration.
My original thought: The reason this works is that my default search engine is Google, and I have the Google toolbar. One of its features is to, transparently, run your query in the Google search engine, and direct you to the top result. Revised thought: If you forget the .com on the URL, you'll get something like "google". Your web browser might automatically add the ".com] for you, and attempt retrieving that address. If this worked for you, try typing "googlecommunity" or "googleboard" in your address bar. Both of those work for me, and bring me to http://www.googlecommunity.com/ |

Firefox, Opera, and IE both add an extension to the end if there's an issue with the address. With the Google Toolbar you just type in for say Google and it brings you to Google.com. It's not oh wow the Internet has changed for everyone, this will kill off Billy Gates and make Stevey Jobs keep Microsoft Engineers as prisoners.
