Guys , need help....planning to buy Dell XPS M 140

Hello people

Greetings!

I am planning to buy Dell XPS M140 (Intel M processor 740,1.73 GHz/2 MB Cache 533 Mhz FSB, DVD writer etc etc) the total price on;line is around1110$ excluding shipping/taxes/handling charges.

My questions are

1)Is it cheaper and safe to buy online? Can i buy it directly instead of shipping so that it will come cheaper. If yes, where can i buy it in NY? Dell contact us serive useful for ppl who have already brought somesystem, but for queries, its pain.

2) Will there be any Thanksgiving/X'mas sale when i can get the system for less than this price???????

If yes, where in NY?????

3)How are the results of XPS 140? Any problems in installing or starting up?( I am planning to buy it in NY, but will be away for some time immediately. In fact my friend is gonna collect the shipping on my behalf. Is it a good idea?)

4) Extra chrges like shipping/handling/ground chagres. How much will that be in NY? Any idea folks?

5) Finally which is better in Dell; XPS M140 or Inspiron 9300????????????

I know its almost an essay. But what can u expect a medicine grad to ask abt laptops...

I'll really appreciate your suggestions guys!

Thanks

Great choice, that's a nice system. XP Media Edition!!

It's usually cheaper to buy on-line, especially if you wait and grab it when the shipping is free. Dell almost always has deals or coupons going on. They have 10 locations in New York.

2) Will there be any Thanksgiving/X'mas sale when i can get the system for less than this price???????
Probably, but I have no idea if they will include this system.

If yes, where in NY?????
Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and New York City.
10 locals within theses cities

Yes, if your friend is trustworthy and does not have any bad habits or anything of that nature. From what I've read it's rock solid. The screen(14.1) is 30% larger than most 15 inchers because its wider. I'm pretty sure its 16:9 ratio, meaning you can watch DVD movies in their native format. Everything should be pre-installed for you when you recieve it. I would probably dump most of the extra stuff that's added to it, if it was mine.

4) Extra chrges like shipping/handling/ground chagres. How much will that be in NY? Any idea folks?
Probably around $20 because it weighs almost 6 lbs., but I would wait to get a deal with no shipping fees.

5) Finally which is better in Dell; XPS M140 or Inspiron 9300????????????
Both are multi-media power houses, the 9300 has 17 inch widescreen, the XPS has a bigger CPU 2.1 as to the 1.6 of the Inspiron, both are very mobile,. The XPS has integrated graphics and the 9300 has 64mb graphics card. The XPS is thinner and weighs less. If screen size isn't a priority, maybe the XPS would suit you better. Currently they are both selling for $999.00 before shipping and taxes.
