Favorites folder vanished
Hi All.brThe Favorites folder completely invisible in C:\Document and Settings\User Name.brMaking a search reveal an empty Favorite folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.brTyping "%homepath%\favorites" gives this message " This file does not have a program associated with it forbrperforming this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel".brbrIf I try to drag a back up Favorite folder in C:\Documents and Settings\User name, an other message sayingbrthat there's already a Favorites folder and if I want to override it, if I click yes, the Favorites folder just desappear.brI don't know what's going on please helpbrWindows xpbrIE 6br

From the info you've provided here's something that might help you out. Since the folder is invisible open go to the User name folder. Click Tools>Go to Folder Options>Click View>And then in the options below select Show hidden files and folders. Hopefully that will help you out some.

I agree that the folder could have been 'hidden'. However, if you have already clicked "yes" to overwritebrit with an empty folder, you have probably wiped the previous contents out.

Hi Mondine
The back up folder has Favorites files, it's not empty I must clarify. Clicking on the Favorites button on the toolbar bring an empty drop down window onthe left hand side where the favorites files should be. Looking in C:\Documents and Settings\User name I don't see the Favorites folder with an icon star, making a search only bring up the favorite folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users" and a saved favorites folder in My Documents. I don't know what else to try except perhaps a reinstall of IE or Win xp. Mmmm doesn't look to good. Thank for replying. Cheers |
