ATX +3.3V falls as far as +2.94v

My computers ATX +3.3V is not stable. It flacuates between 3.3 and 2.90. This causes alarms from Abit EQ, a watchdog software came with the motherboard.. Nothing seems to go wrong with the computer but the alarm comes on at +3.18v. Please some one to explain what is this??

Regards

It's the voltage coming from the power supply. The problem could lie with:

(1) your power source
(2) the power supply
(3) the voltage monitor
(4) the watchdog software

for (1), try using a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) that also provides surge protection and helps to clean the power being provided to your PC.

for (2), check that your power supply seems to be functioning properly (including that the fan is operational and not clogged with dust) and that it is plugged securely into the appropriate components.

Many thanks for your reply. The problem was caused by loose power supply line to the mother board. After tightening it, the voltage started to fluctuate between 3.36 and 3.38. The problem completely disappeared.
