Change the start button

This can be somewhat fun since it makes your computer a little bit more uniqe. This will teach you how to change the text on the Start button to something other than "Start"

----------------------------------
Warning!!!!!

For those who like to right click on the Start button and then click search it won't work anymore. The search still works you just can't right click on the start button and click search anymore... This won't harm the computer in any way I just wanted to put this info out there so you don't think I messed your puter up.

---------------------------------

First you need to go to this website and download Resource Hacker http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

This file is the executable so there is no installation.

After you download the program make sure you make a backup copy of explorer.exe (Which is located at C:&bkfls;Windows or if your using another OS C:&bkfls;WINNT)somewhere else on the computer so if you ever want to revert back to however it used to be you can do so without any problems.

Open up Resource hacker and then have it open up Explorer.exe. Once it's open go down to the String Table. Go to 37 under the String table and click on the little green flower thing. On the side you'll see some text show up. Just edit where it says "Start" make sure you only edit the text leave the " " where they are. Once thats done click "Compile Script". Then save it as explorer2.exe or whatever you might want it to be.

Next go to Start>Run> and type in Regedit

Go to this location in the registry.....

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE&bkfls; SOFTWARE&bkfls; Microsoft&bkfls; Windows NT&bkfls; CurrentVersion&bkfls; Winlogon

Open up the entry that is titled "Shell". Change the data to whatever you saved the new explorer.exe as. Like I said explorer2.exe so that is what I'd type in.

Close the registry, and either log off and back in or just reboot the whole machine. If you've done it properly the Start button will no longer display the text Start.
