mondine is an unknown quantity at this point
Well, I'm glad you didn't decide to try to advertise here, or you would have met the same sad fate.

Use forums. Don't abuse them.
Use a search, to see where people are talking about the topics that interest you, and then
CHECK THE RULES!

Here, for example, you can advertise your link in your signature, and in your Profile.
If you contribute to other forums, and have something interesting to say,
people will want to check out your site, to see what it's like.

Now that it is so easy to do, there are thousands of people every month
that slap together a forum, and expect people to come, like flicking on a light switch.
Most of them wither and expire in a month or two.

You need an idea that's worthwhile, that can't be found anywhere (or everywhere) else,
and be willing to spend some time and effort slowly gaining popularity.

If you want quick, easy results with shortcuts, you may as well get another hobby now.

I second mondine's advice. I ran a successful sport forum (gave it away as it was using up too much of my time) and it literally took a couple of years. I'm not saying they all take that long. But I could have easily given up early on. When I left it we had only about 'only' 40 daily posters but they were averaging 30+ posts a day consistently each. Little things happened like we quickly went up the rankings of the main site that hosted the boards giving us free an unexpected publicity, the regular forum members also recommended their friends etc. It does take time.brbrOne thing I would say is don't make it too big too quickly. By that I don't mean members, (!) I mean the number of boards on the forum. It's an easy thing to do as an Admin, but from a potential member browsing as a guest, you'll be more likely to joing a smaller board with lots of different discussions rather than a massive board with the threads stretched out thinly making the place look empty.brbrGood luckbr
