Hezbullah vs Israel

well all the news have been saying that Hezbullah was victorious...i find this hard, very hard to believe. i mean look at the state of the all those cities in Lebanon...and compare that to the pristine condition of Israeli infrastructure. why would anyone be so foolish as to declare a win when actually they were carpet bombed? what are they trying to prove by claiming victory? they were anhilated in my humble opinion. maybe the Israeli troops withdrew from lebanese territory, but that was to show mercy on the hezbullites...Nasirullah is saying he getting US $ 100million from Iran....as compared to US $ X-finite billion that Israel gets....i think its rather hillarious hearing such stuff on tv...just goes to show empty vessels make the most noise

mondine is an unknown quantity at this point
It's pretty much the same with every military conflict there has ever been in history.
Everybody that's still around when it's over declares victory.
(Like, what else are they going to say?)

Whatever.
They may be many things, but they're still also politicians.

Hezbollah did win, Isreals aim was to destroy Hezbollah - They failed

Hezbollahs aims were to survive - they did.

No one actually won the war. As Peterk said, Israel's aim was to destroy Hezbollah, in which they failed. But Hezbollah's primary aim was to survive, which they did. So, Hezbollah won from their perspective.
But no one really won the war.

Well, think of it this way. Hezbullah had a moral vicotry: they killed more Isreali soldiers than civilians, 2 soldiers for every civilian apparently. Secondly, Isreal did not acheive any of its goals: Hezbollah still exists, and the Isreali soldiers were not returned. Also, i would just like to point out that it does not matter what the fuck happened to the Lebanese infrastructure, that is a war concerning Isreal and the people of Lebanon, not Hezbullah. The things that really matter are how many enemies you killed or captured and were your objectives acheived. If you follow that outline, then Hezbullah was victoriuos.

Technically Hezbollah won because they still function and exist, all they really had to do was survive.
