SETI@Home

For those that don't know, SETI@home is a working project with the purpose of searching for extra-terrestrial life. SETI is an acronym for Search for Extra-Terrestrial Life. The foundation and idea of this progressing movement repels me from it. I won't stop people or discourage them to take part in it, but I don't think anything beneficial or useful will bloom from this project. For that reason I refuse to invest my time in the project. However, some people might believe that it could lead to new discoveries, but I don't see what good may sprout from knowing if extra-terrestrial life exists or not. It might finally give us our answers about extra-terrestrial intelligence to satisfy our thirst for knowledge but except that, what else?

Well, I enjoy the distributed computing projects, however I believe folding@home is more beneficial. F@H works to find cures for diseases and cancers, which is much more important to me than finding aliens.

SETI@Home

Well, since I have a Macintosh, I can't download most active distributive programing projects...and my computer won't recognize Folding@Home either. I've been using SETI@Home for quite some time now, and I personally prefer it to other such programs-the interface is stunning, and it's fascinating to watch the program analyze various signals. You'd be surprised as to how much "satisfaction" one can gain from watch complex images being processed-but I'd still prefer to help find a cure for cancer instead of searching for "aliens". Silly programmers-they seem to have gotten their priorities wrong when they made these distributive programming interfaces. Oh well, might as well turn on SETI and look for some lonely extraterrestrials...

I have taken part in SETI@home for a long time. Mystery is one of my many hobbies, exercising your mind is good spiritual practice and increases your awareness and sharpness. Perfect to help develop my other hobbies.
