Exclamation Southern California Fires!

I'm in Southern California, and for the past couple days I've been hearing more and more about all the wildfires blazing in surrounding areas.

No fires near me yet, but the event is big enough that it's in the Official Google Blog: Southern California fire maps. Apparently these are some of the worst fires in California history.

I remember some time ago when the air right where I live was filled with smoke and ashes from a large fire somewhere. Fortunately, there's never been a serious fire anywhere near my house

I just want to ask: What is the cause of that wildfires? Is it because our ozone layers is so thin now that the rays from the sun can easily create fire?
