Exclamation Kids using the Internet to shop?

Hi there,

Im a student at Nottingham Trent University, in my final year. For my research project I am looking into Internet usage and how the virtual world is dramatically replacing the real world.

Over the last few weeks I have been distributing questionnaires to Primary school children age 5-11 about their Internet usage. One result that particularly stood out to me was that 46% of the 247 pupils claimed to have used online shopping sites. This really surprised me. 6 year olds shopping online!!?? (Obviously this may have been with an adult)

If you could take a few moments to help me with my research and start a discussion on the subject, it would be very much appreciated.

for example-
Does this surprise you?
Do you know young children that use the Internet for shopping? or children that spend to much time online?
What do you think attracts young Internet users?
What do you think this means for the future?
Personal experiences??
etc

Thank you so much for you time.

not that surprisingly in my knowledge i believe... since some of the web site are very user friendly that even kids can order online.. but the question is where they get the money, since some of online store only accept credit/debit cards...

I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as the parent checks/buys the goods for them (i.e. so they know what their child has ordered).
