Can anyone help me? Watashi no ha ga itai!

OK, I'm new here so first of all, hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that may help me out. I have very sensetive teeth and it's been bothering me for a while now. I figure that there must be something that I can take to make it less of a pain whenever I eat or drink anything that's too hot or cold. As it stands I have a very aqute problem in that if I eat/drink anything that's not basically body temperature it causes alot of discomfort which, as I'm sure you can imagine, is really upsetting my taste buds. I never used to be like this but for the past nine months or so, it seems to have got alot worse and I'm actually really worried about it now. I've tried talking to dentist (and my doctor) who both offered me no more advice than to try a sensetive teeth toothpaste. There HAS TO BE something else that would really help.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Marcus.

...Further info.

OK, just to add a bit more to what I've already said...

I have been trying Sensodyne toothpaste (for sensetive teeth) for a while before I went to the Dentist/Doctor. Also, if it helps at all the pain, whilst accross all my teeth, seems to be worse at the back teeth.

Marcus.

well you better consult your dentist about it, and see what's he recommend.

You already did the right thing by consulting your dentist.

Best to push your dentist for a better explanation or get a second opinion. While trying to get to the root cause (no pun intended) you may want to use a straw if drinking hot or cold liquids. It helps to keep the liquid off your sensitive teeth.

causes sensitive teeth

It is such a burden to suffer from a sensitive tooth. It bothers during meals, while drinking something hot or cold, even sometimes while breathing air through the mouth.
There are many factors that can cause sensitive teeth:
  • Brushing the teeth in a hard or strong way can wear out the enamel and cause tooth sensitivity.
  • If the gum level recedes, due to gum disease or vigorous brushing, the root becomes exposed, making the tooth sensitive.
  • A fracture of a tooth can expose the dentin.
  • Grinding the teeth wears down the enamel.
  • Tooth whitening products can cause a temporary sensitivity to the teeth.
  • Certain mouthwashes are acidic and long term use can wear away the enamel of the tooth.
  • Foods high in acid content, such as soft drinks, citric fruits, or ice-tea, wear out the enamel if consumed excessively.
  • Recent dental treatments ( fillings, cleanings, root canals or crowns) can cause sensitivity to the repaired tooth for a few weeks.

if your dentist can't prescribed you anything, I don't think we could either, so just eat the food at its temperature that your teeth is comfortable at and care for your teeth the way your dentist told you to
