Lake Vostok

Im not sure if you've heard of it, but it's actually quite interesting, it is some lake that was discovered in antartica under the ice, and has been sealed of for an estimated time of a million years, so any life forms in there could be completely different from what we have ever seen. Read it for more detail

I've heard of it and I'm fascinated. It's about the size of Lake Ontario. The discovery of the lake itself is not recent, but an island was sighted at the centre of the lake in May. It has been speculated that lifeforms which inhabit the area, if any, are likely to be of unfamiliar shapes and classifications, due to the fact that they have evolved for the past millenia isolated from the rest of the world and have adapted to different climatic conditions.
