OMG! I got the same email, too! You'd think she could be a little more original. Especially when she's trying to scam people. I posted my ad to the local craigslist and it wasn't until her second message that she happened to mention she was from S.D. Ironically, it was her mention of this organization and the fact that it was unknown that made me decide to Google it. I don't know about the rest of you, but I expect cash up front when dealing with strangers, and I'm certainly not going to give anyone a "handler's fee" or anything. There's a red flag! I'm just glad she doesn't have my telephone number or address. Rather than warn this woman, I'm just going to tell her I'm going to rent it locally. I'll report it to craigslist, but I doubt they'll do anything. I know they don't monitor their site well. I accepted a job offer from a posting off of there once, and the guy turned out to be a felon. I reported it to them, but I never got a response back. If anyone knows someone I can report this lady to, I'll be glad to do it! Thanks Google! Glad to know someone looks out for us!

Thank You!!
I, like everyone else, got this e-mail as well. Thought it was totally fishy from the get go, but didn't want to discriminate on someone's ability to speak English well. So glad I found this to put an end to my questions though!!

Thank you!
Wow, I posted an ad on craigslist for a roomate and within 24 hours, I had received a response from the same person. She said her name is Mariam Helen. I did a search on this name and came up with no results. Also, she stated she was a pediatric nurse and a makeup artist on the side. In her second email, she stated she was a Social Worker.... so which is it? That was my first red flag, aside from the broken English. I'm glad I didn't respond with more information about myself! What is the point in this? All she has done is waste my time and get me psyched up about having a much needed roommate! UGHHH
I am completely fed up with all these scams... does anyone know how we can put a stop to this? Thanks for any insight. |

To Freddy1085,dont except money from them!!!!!!!!!
They will ask someone from the us to sent them money on a false promise or they have hackers who will steal money from someone account, someones hard earned money, probably more than most of us have ever seen, they will have that person send it to them in the different country and than they will sent it to you. The Fbi will trace it to you and you will get in trouble for accepting stolen money or for being an "accessory to the crime". They cant go after someone in a different country so even though you will be a victim too, you are in this country and they will go after the only person they can go after and if you dont pay back the money that they stole YOU could go to jail.
To everyone DO NOT EVER except money from anyone who lives in a different country. |
