Google -- Too Many Services Bad?

Google has really revolutionized the online world. With its search engine and recent IPO, it seems that it is in a position to rival even Microsoft itself.

What I am worried about, however, is that Google could be spreading itself too thin. It has so many projects on board at one time, and many of its services are too bizarre for everyday use. I think Google should cut down on the number of ambitious projects that it is undertaking and focus on perfecting the ones that they have.

I think the speed with which they are "perfecting" current projects is acceptable. And entering new markets is something that Google has always tried to do, although there is such a thing as "too much."

Really?

Would you wait for a young bird to fly before you push it out of the nest?

I say go after Moby Dick in a rowboat and take the tartare sauce with you.

geekerati is an unknown quantity at this point
I really only have problems with Orkut and Google Groups, the rest of their projects seem to be solid.

I like the fact that most of Google's services are free. Gmail is particularly good because with MSN, you have to pay to get 1GB and be able to set it up with Outlook Express, whereas with g-mail, you get over 2 and a half GB and can set it up to work with Outlook Express.
