Nothing is the only thing truly infinite.

"Nothing is the only thing truly infinite." is a quote I came up with a little while ago.

It reads many ways when you think about it. There is a lot of double meaning to it.

Nothingness, to me, is the most amazing thing that exists (or doesn't exist).

When you take all the matter and energy out of our Universe, what is left? Nothing, absolutely nothing. If you were able to witness this nothing, it would cease to be nothing and would instantly become "You." You would be completely suspended amongst this infinite nothingness. Able to move your arms and legs and what not, you would not be able to move your body. Even if you did move, what is moving when there is nothing to move closer to or farther away from?

The question this quote raises for me is, if you believe in the Big Bang Theory, and you believe that all the matter and energy of our Universe was confined to a Singularity then where did that first initial spark of energy come from?

Let me rephrase that.

How did something come from nothing?

Physically, something cannot come out of nothing.
On the other hand, according to metaphysics, it is theoretically possible. But not all theories are valid. I don't think much about the creation of the universe. I leave it to the reputed scientists. I have a feeling I'll find out when I die.

Have you ever heard of the Schwinger mechanism? It is also referred to as spontaneous pair production.
QED(Quantum Electro-Dynamic) vacuum is unstable in the presence of a strong electro-magnetic background field. Such a deformed vacuum state decays by emitting pairs of particles. This theoretical prediction of spontaneous particle creation was made many decades ago and is often referred to as the Schwinger Mechanism. Since then, a variety of interesting aspects has been explored ranging from black hole quantum evaporation, to particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions and in palaeo-universal physics.

I think the universe is a large circle whose center covers everywhere and circumference lies nowhere. Now since you can't find out the diameter(which you need to find out the radius), you can't put into use the formulae to find out the area(or volume in case it is a sphere), even if pi is constant. But if the universe is a circle, what lies in the outer outskirts? Hehe, anyway this a joke theory I made up.

A favorite theory of mine, is that the initial spark came from another dimension. It is crazy to think that we are aware of all dimensions. There has to be something so big yet so simple that we don't know about.

I also like to think we are just an advanced MMORPG for some super-species.

Haha, would be funny if that last theory is true.

Each human on Earth has some super-being sitting in front of a computer controlling our every move. When one of us dies, they just start a new game.

Unfortunately the one controlling me is a lazy bastard.

I think this theory makes more sense than most. Not in the fact that we are a video game, but for those who believe in God, maybe we each have our own personal "God". God believers probably wouldn't like that too much.

The trouble with another dimension is, you just get another place, and have to start wondering all over again where that one came from.

Maybe they think it's us.
