Unhappy I need advice for a complicated Proposal

This is the Situation...

My Girlfriend and I have been dating for a while... I had given her a very beautiful blue sapphire heart ring for Christmas.... During that Christmas break (I am in the ARMY she is in collage) she asked me about marriage... and asked me if I wanted to be engaged... I agreed, but found out she doesn't like diamond rings, so when it came to thinking about completing the proposal I decided to use the same ring I gave her... I promised our engagement would be our secret until I propose with that ring... is that ok? To propose with the same ring that was the promise ring for a long engagement?...

Also this concerns me... being in the military does not allow me to test how well we will do actually living together, but everyone I talk to/every "top ten things to ask" quiz I take comes out to sound beyond a perfect match... Is there any other way to tell if the love is strong enough to create the right type of bond after the marriage to hold you together when the "puppy-love feeling" fades? I really love this girl and I want so badly for this to work, and to not screw this one up...

Wink

Is very nice of you, and the time will come...About the ring If she dont like diamonds buy something similar but with her favorite color or Birth color.. Have something different made a woman feel very special....

Something just simple but bother's ME.. You dont mention the age BUT remember if something happen to you, She will NOT have any benefits to protect her... The law is very clear only Husband and Wife will be protect by Law..
