Need help with Instant Messengers including Google Chat
Hi all
I'm new and thanks to Google for a nice forums and search engine. I have an important question: When does an instant messenger, such as Google Chat, signal that you are actually online or active on your computer to other people? It's very annoying but I find that sometimes when I hop on the computer late at night, somehow someone will message me on Google Chat asking if I am there? My PC is on all the time and Google Chat is always logged in but having someone out there somehow perceiving that I am at my PC is a bit unnverving. I haven't clicked Google Chat or talked to anyone. I'm just browing webpages. How or when does the other person on google chat know I am at my PC? ![]() thx ! |
