Returned mail

Fot the past week I have been receivimg an average of 7 returned mails a day that I have not sent, worse still the body of the returned mail is spam, either soft porn or so called financiak advise. In the headers the from address is mine but with a different senders name. I have no record of any of these mails in my sent box. Below is a couple of these mails pasted in. This is just an often-used spammers trick to get you to open spam mail.
When you get these, just mark them as spam,
or create a spam filter for the sender (look for anything with a "from" in front of it, like "MAILER-DAEMON@mxsf33.cluster1.charter.net"),
and send them directly to your spam folder.

A spammer has simply harvested your email address from somewhere. You should guard it more carefuly.
When you have to use it in a public place like this, you should use a disguised form, so that it won't be
harvested by automatic means (for example 'name[at]gmail[dot]com').
It's better to have a secondary address for online registrations, and so on.

But your account hasn't been compromised. Just deal with the spam; when you can, do not even open it, and never reply to it.
If you need to open spam, do so in plain text. This will thwart web beacons that spammers use to confirm a valid address.
And be careful where you publish your address. Including here.

If your using Gmail it already has quite a good spam filter just report it and delete the messages just as mondine said!

Myself I don't get much spam in my e-mail account though one of my friends gets at least 15 pieces of spam each day but luckily he also uses Gmail so he doesn't get much spam in his inbox!
