brbrbrbrGMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual drive in the Windows Explorer, allowing you to use your Google Gmail account as a storage medium.brbrIt allows you to do basic file manipulation, such as copy and delete of files inside the Gmail account. Because it is a Shell Extension, the interface you work in is Windows Explorer itself.brbrGMail Drive appears as a virtual drive under your My Computer folder in Windows Explorer.brbr

GMail drive is not an official Google application. When Google releases its (superior) variant, beta-testers will use a program called Platypus. This program is already used within the Google Corporate Headquarters.

As for unofficial knock-offs, I use GSpace, a Firefox extension for GMail.

I prefer GSpace aswell. It's still doing me good every once and a while.
And where did you find out about this Platypus thing? The Google Blog?

The rumours about Platypus originated when somebody found a page on Writely detailing it's features.

I have my sources; I believe it originated on a Writely page as someone above mentioned.
