Deleting a gmail account

Does anybody know if you delete a gmail account, wether or not that username will be available for others or not?

please don't reply saying "why do you want to delete your account?" lol

I am just asking cuz I am curious. for example in yahoo if you delete an ID, then it will immediately be available for others to pick. is gmail the same way?

i guess one way of finding out is to delete my account and try to sign up for that ID again but i hate to lose my ID for an experiment, lol.

It is need a long time for the name to reuse.
when you delete the Gmail account, it is difficult for you to reigister it again,so you must reigister other name.

stop using it. years later google might delete it. just like hotmail.com, msn.com, yahoo.com etc...

Go to your Google account page and you can choose "Delete Gmail Service."
