Registration says my nick's not available, but it's not true!

Hi
I want to register new account at gmail but have a huge problem:
I want to register as "matt2ss", thats my nick. But availability checker says: not available. But im absolutely sure that matt2ss@gmail.com doesnt exist yet (- ive already tried to contact this adress, but i obtained a delivery error.)
Nicks such as matt2s, mat2ss etc. are available. I repeat im absolutely sure, matt2ss is free, but why this issues?!

Someone might have had it, but let it expire. It won't become available anymore then.

Good idea. It seems this solves my problem -but- who would register exactly "matt2ss"? Ive used it just for few months, if somebody wanted to drive me angry

and had registered my nick, it wouldnt be expired yet.
I dont really know...

Ive just found out-matt2ss, matt1ss, matt3ss, matt5ss and some other arent available, but matt4ss, matt6ss and some other are!
The nicks which arent available cannot be all registred, i think.

well if someone got them registered than you cant get them

I think he means: not all names that have NOT yet been registered, can be registered. Some of them may be "blocked".

Don't know if this is true, just trying to find out what matt2ss is trying to say.
