Gmail to stop storage count on April 1st

This blog on ZDNet claims that the Gmail storage count will stop on April 1st for Gmail's birthday. It also gives 3 possible reasons:

Gmail coming out of beta
GDrive will be announced
Just a good time to re-evaluate storage situation

Can anybody else verify if this is a fact or not? If so, do you think there are any major reasons for the count stopping?

Ya, I heard this from a friend as well. I'm not really sure as for the reason(s) why, but the reasons you listed above seem to be good guesses. A GDrive would be awesome

They appear not to have ANY source for this information at all.. It's just wild guessing.

Aaah ok, that makes sense. At least a little back up of the things they state. I'm curious if anything else will happen!

With Google? Hmm... that's probably the last thing they'll do. They released Gmail on 1st April, 2004, and they've got a history of doing what they say they're going to do on April 1st. In fact, a few of the things they said they'll release (not on 1st April) turned out to be jokes (like Google Moon, etc.).

But there's still a chance of it being a joke, yes. A very small chance.
