HTML formatted mail in Gmail

What is up with no support for properly displaying HTML email? If gmail will not display the images and stylesheet that comes with newsletters, then it should give you the option to read the plain-text version of the email. Anyone else having issues with this?

Yea, I noticed I got a couple of Espn Newletters and I had this problem, it's a bug that needs to be fixed in my opinion!

To prevent the display of malicious images (for tracking, spamming, etc.) Gmail by default doesn't display external images. In this case, there's a link near the top that says "Display External Images" - after clicking it, all the images will appear.

I think the Gmail team has fixed all problems with displaying embedded images on HTML emails. as long as you click "Display External Images", it should work fine.

One problem I have with Gmail displaying wide (far right scrolling) emails is the way the right sidebar with the text ads covers up the email. this happens with Mozilla's Firefox, but I tried opening the same email on IE, and everything comes out properly. I already sent them a bug report regarding this, so...

it seems like the Google Team goes through all feedback from users. I sent a few bug reports and suggestions a couple of days ago and the automated replies weren't sent in till this morning. so they don't send the reply until they've read your email. I love Gmail...

I don't see display "Display External Images" anywhere when I'm in my account. I even put my glasses on to make sure I wasn't missing it :P. I swear my eyes are honestly skimming over it if it's there.

It appears above the message when you're looking at one that has images in it

SpinRaven is on a distinguished road
Important note to authors of newsletters having issues with images not displaying: Even with the 'display images' setting activated, some images will not display, while others will. All referenced files must exclude spaces between words (ex: redcoat.jpg instead of red coat.jpg). Most email programs are able to render both. Gmail has yet fix the problem.
