TOO MANY SPAMS on Gmail :(

Hi,

I have 2 IDs on Gmail and on one ID I am getting like 30-40 emails in my Spam folder, but on the second one I am getting like 1-5 email per week.

I dont understand why my ID is being targetted for that much SPAMS... does anyone else has the same problem like mine?

Or anyone knows how can I stop emails? I know they are already coming in SPAM folder but I don't want them at all, how can I get rid off them??

please help..!!!!

I tied to fight spam emails once in my life by looking into headers and detecting the Mailer Server, but it's a dead end. Spam emails usually have fake headers, so I just destroyed my email account and never ever gave my email to suspicious web sites and for 1 year, I usually received 1 spam per month.

Yes you are right, actually sometime back I used to give my email id to many websites... newsletters, daily emails, ...etc and from that time I am getting HUGE number of SPAMS

Is there any way to stop this or I also have to destry my id like yours?

Well, if you want to keep your ID, then you may try to fight back.
1. See if there is a link at the bottom of emails with "UNSUBSCRIBE" link. That will stop your newsletters and subscriptions.
2. Some very nasty spam emails - I had no luck stopping them. Just run out of patience and never ever looked back.
3. You can keep your existing ID for such occasions when you don't trust a web site and still need to register, I call it an "email for every day" And have your second personal email, which you give only to your friends and trusted web sites, I can promise you, you will receive very little spam on that one if you keep by these rules...
Hope it helped.

Thumbs up

Sorry, I forgot to mention!
1) If you have a web site and you have your email on it, then you're in great danger! Spammers use special software to scan random, specially targeted by keywords web sites and find if there is any email address on the page. If they find something like "Contact us at: mymail@mymail.com" -> you're 100% exposed to spam letters. They will send all kind of crap on your email. Remove your link from a web site or make it look as "mymail (at) mymail.com" or even better create an image with your mailbox name.

2) Spammers also send emails for selected web sites by randomly selecting inbox name, for example "support@yoursite.com" - usually such inbox names exist on all commercial web sites. Moreover, your web hosting plan usually supports redirects of all misspelled messages to one common delivery box, so an email sent to "randomname@yoursite.com" will be delivered to you anyway if re-directs turned on.

Now you know +2 ways how to protect yourself.

Regards,
Alex

just dont make your ID visible to everyone in the web.. just give your email address to the one you've known...

I have noticed that if I am not Using (sending & Receiving) emails from any of my ID then the SPAM emails starts coming to my inbox, but when I Use (Send & Received) emails then slowly SPAMS are getting back.

Same is going with my ID... I have started communication from that ID and slowly the daily number of SPAM emails is getting less

I don't know if you have experience this thing or not.
