one gmail account per customer, right?

hi...i'm new to googlecommunity. i did not see this topic posted up here so i've taken the lead to post it up myself.

i was wondering...exactly how many accounts does google allow you to have? i heard that you're allowed only one and if you have any more than that, then google will ban you as well as press charges...? my friend has like four, basically just reserving the usernames (who isn't) that he likes but he's kinda freaking out and i am a little bit curious myself. i can understand if someone owns over several dozen accounts but does this still apply to someone who owns like a couple accounts? probably...but i really want to get the facts straight please can someone knowledgeable in this area please comment so i know exactly what my friend is getting into...

First of all, welcome to the community! I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Second, I doubt that Google would ban your friend for having multiple accounts. They just don't want you signing up for, lets say [email]googleadmin@gmail.com[/url] or [email]billgates@gmail.com[/url] and selling them to someone, or using them to send spam and stuff.

The same wouldn't go for AdWords or AdSense since they pay you to show adverts for them.

yup...! one of the reasons I come here more than any of the other Gmail forums is because of the shop! hehehe... but, of course, I'm not just trying to earn GC$ to get stuff free. I also like the people here and the topics being discussed. I just hope more members could be more active. sometimes, I come and post at a few threads and half a day later, I'm still the last poster. hehe...

yea, the information here is easy to respond and help with, for the most part anyway.

The shop is a cool thing to help get more people active, but then there will be spammers, but thats where the banned group kicks in, lol

I disagree with that statement, it clearly says in their TOS that they dont want the same Person having two accounts!

Whatever there reason, i dont care, but that's just what's in their TOS!

True, but I have about probably six accounts at a lot of other sites, like Geocities, Brinkster, etc, but they haven't cancelled my accounts yet. It could also be because they have different standards aswell.

Create multiple user accounts in connection with any violation of the Agreement or create user accounts by automated means or under false or fraudulent pretenses

That's directly from the agreement. I think they would already found out if people were making multiple accounts by their IPs, but that's just my opinion.
