moving domain mail to google

Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not.
I have a domain name with another registerar. Not very fond of their email service and moved over to Google. My problem is the the URl to retrieve my mail is tooe long.
Tried to create a custom URL via Google Apps to be mail.mydomain.net. According to all that I can tell is that this has been accepted. But when I type into my browser that address. I get "server not found". Used three browsers and got the same results.
What am I doing wrong. It can't be THAT hard. Don't know where to go to get the answer.

Thanks to all. Really need help.

I have tried their help/support and finally was told that they could not help me. I cannot move the type of email that I have to them. Didn't understand the reasoning at all. Made no sense to me. I just threw up my hands and basically said to h_ll with it. I have too many other more important things to do right now. When I get time to fight a better battle I will.

Thanks all

I had the same problem that I was not very satisfied to use my domain-provider for mail. My provider works with Horde-mail and that program has a very easy option to forward mail to any other mail-account: 5 minutes of work.
Said that you are so lost and that proves me again that when one do not know too much about all these things will be left left stuck.
A hugh problem for me is, as being a dummie, that also "help/call-centers" of all the big companies are a pain, sorry to say, but that is my experience with lots and lots in all branches of products is very, very bad!
The last and only possibility is to try to get info from Forum-members with experience.

I had to give up for the time being. But will probably pursue it at a later date. Thanks for all the replies.
