Google GMail Now Offers Rich Text

Google GMail now supports fonts, bullets, highlighting, indenting and much more. Colors and few fonts are also available to be implemented on the text content. Impressively, forwarding HTML mails work fine as well. This was one area where Yahoo! had an advantage over Google GMail as forwarding messed up complicated HTML mails by converting it to text.

The facility is limited to the normal version of the GMail thus users stuck with older browsers (and frustratingly Opera) would not be able to use this extended functionality. However, you might not be able to see this new option in your GMail right now as the company is beta testing the service and introducing it slowly over all its accounts.

Google expects that in the coming weeks all the users of Google GMail would be upgraded with this service. To check if your GMail is updated, look for a ‘Rich formatting >>’ link in your compose window or the now very familiar ‘New Features!’ link on the top of your GMail window!

It seems they can't get enough of it!! They really want to conquer the others as you can see!! Damn I'm so curious. How big will Gmail be in about 1 year... Maybe TEH BEST ??!!

My Gmail isn't updated yet, but I did get something new (or atleast, I just noticed it): a spelling checker! And that is fun and usefull feature for me

The Rich Text feature is one of the features I wanted most, so I'm really happy they added that

Definately Gmail will be the first choice for the new generation. All the kids i see nearby use ONLY Gmail. They cant live without all those cool features and the speed . As for the poeple who are using E mail since ages, its difficult for them to just switch off thier old id. They are emotionally attached to it.

I hope E-mail is not rechristened to G-mail!!

I hope i see it in my mail box soon!
It will be of great help to me.
As i already told i send most of my office mails from gmail and i have to reply a lot of times. So it will be helpful for me if i can change the color of my text

EDIT:- Got it finally and started using it too!!

I got the tool when I logged on to gmail today. I sent a bogus email to a friend using the rich formatting

Suprisingly I'm used to not having it that I don't even really need it anymore. I still like to have the option though, but I might not even be using it much.

Question -- did anyone notice that the 1000MB capacity changed? I believe mine is 1082MB now... Just curious?
