Gmail now supports the IMAP protocol. It even works with Google Apps (for your domain). Best of all, it's free of charge. Unlike POP, IMAP enables you to keep your inbox synchronized across all computers and devices, so that whatever you do in your email, whether it's on your phone (Apple iPhone, in my case), desktop mail client, or web browser, your changes will show up wherever you access your email.
How great is that?! Reading, sending, deleting and other actions you take on your messages are reflected automatically and instantaneously any place you get Gmail. Have you used it yet? I'm using Gmail IMAP on my iPhone, and I have a friend who just started using Mozilla Thunderbird again thanks to this feature. Even labels work with IMAP, appearing as folders so that you can assign messages "into" different labels using any device. More info about Gmail at gmail.com What do you think? |
