Gmail does not distinguish between usernames with periods, and usernames without periods.

Because Gmail doesn't recognize dots as characters within usernames, adding or removing dots from a Gmail address won't change the actual destination address. Messages sent to yourusername@gmail.com and y.o.u.r.u.s.e.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com are all delivered to your Inbox, and only yours.
If you suspect someone is trying to get the password reset, make sure you don't actually reset the password.
Also, you should maybe check if this is an official Google email...a quick (although not always effective) way to check for a genuine email is to take a peek at the headers of the email. If the sender is something like cbxys83.ru (i.e. something with no relation to Google) then just mark the email as spam and ignore it. If you do feel that someone is genuinly trying to sabotage your account, contact Google (although I don't think there will be much they will be able to do).
