Deleting Gmail

I have another question [Yeah, I know I'm extremely annoying..]
Anyway, I want to know if you delete your current gmail account, does the invite of how you got your account in the first place, be free for someone else to use again?

The invite? I'm not sure, but I don't think so.
I think once you use the invitation it is not valid anymore...

Yep, as soon as someone registers with the invite, it is forever lost, which is bad for some that want to use their invites merely to test out the Gmail service... and I suppose good for others, who want to monopolize the Gmail invitation trade.

Okay, thanks for telling me that. I was just about to delete an account and give the invite to someone who seems desparately to want one.

Well, you can always give him the account. The moment he changes the password you won't have access to it.
Instead of giving him an invitation, give him an account

I can't really do that because the person doesn't like the account name - and nonetheless, I highly doubt that he can trust me with the account password - even though you can change it..

Don't worry about it. But thanks for all the help!

The idea of antioco2003 is really superb, if someone wants the gmail badly. only one problem in that is that the registered person will get all liabilities on him even though he does not use the same.

Interesting, I was going to post the same topic asking the same exact thing. Hmm... So deleting an account gets rid of a perfectly good invite... I think that's a complete waste, especially if it's just because "you got sick of the name". Many, MANY people out there are probably dying for an invite, and I bet they would even appreciate getting an account. Personally, I think it's quite selfish of someone to delete an account for reasons like that. Monkee, this does not refer to you. I think it's very generous of you to even consider giving away your account to your friend.

I just think that, if you're going to delete your account, either think before you make a name, or give it to someone else who values it more. Just my two cents.

Hmmm, that could add a new item to the inventory found at GC Shop: already created Gmail accounts not in use by their owners, and donated to Google Commnunity to find people who want to "adopt" them.

Now there's a complete lack of Gmail invitations, that could be a nice way of reactivating this matter (or not, who knows, I don't know how many people would offer one account...).

The price of each one (in GC$, obviously)? Well, I'm not the one to decide that, I'm just giving an idea

Of course, the donor should give the password in order the new user can change it :P

Antioco, that's a great idea! Instead of wasting a perfectly good invite, they can donate their accounts. Of course, they would have to be pretty cheap, since the names have already been chosen, but I'm sure people would still love to get an account, be it premade or not yet made.

I'm not sure how many people actually have unwanted accounts. But that is a good idea!

I think it will work great now, since most usernames do not have a bunch of numbers after them.

The only question is, who will donate :P
