Can't get into my gmail account

I have a gmail account and when I try to enter it says that the user name and password do not match. I know they do as I use them everyday, but I did as requested and reset my password anyway, but hey, still doesn't match-up.
So I went to Help centre and I sent a report to the gmail people; they sent back an automated response telling me to change my password - go figure!
I filled out another form (same as last time telling them I've already reset my password - in fact it's a form for filling out if changing your password doesn't solve the problem!). And still the same automated "change your password" response.
Where else can I go to get help? There seems to be no link to get to any real people who can help solve my issue. Just links that take me in circles to trouble-shooting pages and help centres which take me back, yes you've guessed it, to trouble-shooting pages or the (un)Help Centre! Or the fill-out form that tells me to keep changing my password.
I really can't figure how to get back into my account. Anyone had similar problems? Please share your experience and tell me what you did,
thanks,
David

in the exact same boat.... so I can't get into picasa, don't recall my email password, since I only created the account to use picasa (not their email ... however the email addy is the userid).

So where does it send my password? TO THE SAME FRICKIN EMAIL ACCOUNT I CANNOT ACCESS???

How boneheaded is that?

How about some challenge/response questions, GOOGLE? Seeing as you have no customer service!.

AAARRRGGHHH!!!!!!!!

I did enter an alternate email, but I never heard back on that email.

Doesn't change the fact that no customer service, and no challenge and response questions, represent 20th century technology.

I call BS. My wife forgot her Gmail password and when she went to the password recovery page the link to reset it was sent to her alternate email address immediately. You didn't enter it or you entered it wrong. Simple as that.

And I don't want easy challenge response access to passwords. Support her or not, Gov Palin of Alaska had her Yahoo account hacked using your "modern" password recovery method of challenge response protection.

Angry Problems with GMail---Please Help

I am having the same problem.

I have tried for 3 days to get my husband's GMail accout fixed. It won't accept his password. The first day when I tried to set up a new password for him they sent it to his alternate email address that is no longer active without even asking what email to send it to. Of course that ment there was no way to recover the information.

When I tried again they said the account had to be inactive for 24 hours before doing anything.

Today they wanted his mother's maiden name but would not accept it when entered.

I can't find any way to contact a human or even any way to email customer service. All I get are messages running me around in circles.

Does anyone have a clue about how to solve the problem?
