How to Get Gmail accounts?

I already have a few gmail accounts, but i never knew how ppl can get them? Do they have to pay or get invited?

You get invited like you did.

Google randomly gives invites out to accounts, or that's how it used to be anyway, now you automaticaclly get them after a certain period of time.
