Cannot Display Gmail

I too am at a loss! On and off for the past few wks it's up in the am and then in the pm down, "where it goes nobody knows". I've done what so many others have re all the reporting back to G and get the same msg..

I know I'm in trouble when I try to access gmail and get this, "Internet Explorer cannot display the Web Page". On occasion this happens but within a short time gmail is once again enabled. BUT it started 2 wks ago when I went 2 days without and then again Sunday (pm) it started again. Even when I try to set up a new account or "sign in" on one of their general sites, up comes "cannot display"..

Any thoughts, suggestions or comforting words would be greatly appreciated.
