GMail's new GUI eats CPU power!

It's like it takes a LOT more CPU power.

The before is on the old user interface (if you click "older version") and the next is after.

I use firefox 3.0.5

Anyone else seen this behaviour? Is there a plugin I must set off, or remove a certain labs feature what?

I use Gmail in Firefox on 2 Ubuntu machines and don't have any problem with it at all. I don't see a before screenshot, but in the after you have Synaptic, IRC and Pidgin all running. Synaptic is notorious for high CPU usage. Could that be the problem? How about a screenshot with only Firefox running.
