Gmail pop account problems

Hi, I've had gmail coming through my OS X Mail for a number of months now with no problems, but in the last two days it has been really messed up. I have to click "Get mail" 3 to 5 times before it finally connects. It usually jsut goes to offline status. And, sometime it rejects my password, sometimes not. I went through the settings again and reset everything. Any ideas???

I don't have a clue how to fix it but all i can think is maybe gmails pop servers using ssl maybe over loaded or just slowed down by a torrent of usage.

Yeah thats wot id say too many people usin pop at the same time proberbly slowed the whole system down
