Breaking News! Google is Banning people...

Many people who have bought Gmail accounts and/or invitations have received this message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry, your account has been disabled. If this should not have happened, please contact our customer support at accounts-support@google.com.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This has been discussed in other forums, but not this.

Yea. I believe these people are people who bought invites or accounts, which is against Gmail's TOS, at least that's what I'm hearing from other forums.

If you were to sell an invitation on e-bay how how would they (google) figure out who sent it and who recieved it?

Google could ask eBay for the ip of the person who is selling it, then go back to Gmail and scan and look for that id. Once they found it they can look at who he send to. Go back to eBay and get the ip of the person who bought it. Match that with what the results of who he sent to. Then they can ban both the person who sold it and the person who bought it. Its that simple. Just getting ebay to work with them shouldnt be much of a problem. As it says in the tos that it cant be sold or something like that.
Hope that helps you out steve.

That's a waste of good invitations! They should have given them to me instead of making them void!

i think that the ban may be on account of misuse and spamming. But then who will admit the same in the forums.

I'm pretty sure that there happy with all the current beta testers. I mean, theres only so far a test can go before the results of what has happened have been reported many times.

Also I'm not sure how many beta testers actually bother to go back to google saying whether or not there happy with the service or vice versa.
