Email ID crackers. How true?

I've several time heard people claiming that they can crack one email account or the other. Is dat really possibl? By cracking, i mean that they claim that if you give them your email address, they can provide you with the password.

Hackers cannot hack your e-mail account as like that. They can hack your accounts through social engineering(forgot password attacks),installing keystroke recorder software in your systems etc.,

One cannot hack an e-mail account with knowing only their id. Still they can try guessing your passwords.

that's so good know. I know about social engineering. But i once come across a site that provides such service. They charge for it. they appear so professional that i doubt if they can be fake.

One way or the other, i still feel some good guys out there can crack email addrresses.
