Removing Chat from Gmail

Hello, I hope you are well. I do not use Gmail's chat feature, so I'd like to remove it completely. Additionally, I'd also like to remove the link to the Chat history, because well, I've never used Gmail Chat before and do not ever intend to. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.
