Lightbulb Gmail wishlist - sort of

*let me start by saying I searched the forums and found nothing that currently discusses what I present here. If there is, please accept my apologies and direct me there.*

Now this is more of how I like to see google in the future, rather than a wish list.

On a daily basis, I use: gmail, docs, reader and calendar. To cut to the chase, I would like to see a more integrated feel to the different google services. Something that will make them feel truly connected instead of the way it is now.

The only current example I can compare it to would be something like Facebook. What I mean by this is the uniform format of the site, with the top navigation bar that carries though to each page. Also, the chat that is carried through each page you visit. All areas are connected, simply put.

Currently with gmail, you can chat with your contacts and aim friends, but not in other google services like calendar. For example, when I am collaborating on a document with a friend. Sure there is a built in chat for the document, but what about my other chats that I have going on in gmail? It is a small nuisance switching tabs when I could be doing that inside docs and not losing focus on my work. How about planning an event, having to switch from calendar to gmail checking which days are free for what. Orkut (google’s social platform) just implemented a form of gtalk that more closely resembles a client that can easily be used on multiples pages like facebook does.

I imagine making a uniform style to google services would be an easier task. They already have a “navigation bar” that lists different services. To be more clear what I am aimed at seeing is having all this occur on one page, rather than a new tab for each service.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Ultimately, I could see something like this being rolled out in multiple steps.
Gtalk would be implemented across the various google services removing existing chat clients. This would go a far way to provide an integrated google experience.
The google GUI would have to be updated to provide continuity.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~

Now I do not know if this aligns with what google would like to do, but that is my 2 cents. Let me know what you think.
