Gmail, Is it recommended?

Is Gmail recommended, I have'nt recieved an invitation, so I would'nt know what it is like. Is Gmail recommended? What sets it aside from other 1GB email providers?

Since Yahoo and many other free email providers now offer the same or more space, what is better from Gmail that the others dont have?

Search, don't sort.
Use Google search to find the exact message you want, no matter when it was sent or received.

Don't throw anything away.
1000 megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message.

Keep it all in context.
Each message is grouped with all its replies and displayed as a conversation.

No pop-up ads. No untargeted banners.
You see only relevant text ads and links to related web pages of interest.

What makes Gmail different?

Gmail uses Google search technology to automatically organize and find messages. And because Gmail includes 1,000 megabytes of storage, a typical user won't ever have to worry about deleting mail. Everything just gets archived so it can be found again if needed.

There are other differences in the way Gmail provides access to your email. For example, Gmail automatically groups an email and the replies to it as a conversation. That means you always see a message in its proper context. And there are no pop-ups or banner ads in Gmail, just relevant text ads and links to related pages. Gmail's other distinctive features include a labeling system, a spam reporter and a system for filtering your mail as it comes into your inbox.

The grouping and searching seems interesting, I guess I could use a thing like that, considering I have a problem with deleting emails..

They have sentimental value..
Even those emails about "Name has posted in Topic forums"

Conversation feature by far is the best email feature I've come across... expecially if you are a person that write a lot of emails back and forth from different people... you'll never lose track of what they are talking about.

Cool, that sounds like a valuable feature, I do like talking back and forth between emails.

Man, because of the conversation feature, my email is way more organized, and I know what the hell people are talking about.

I think it also might also take out the
> hey look
> it's the last email
> as if you didn't already know what you said.

Also, going through Gmail is immediate, and I think it refreshes when you get a new email, so you can just leave it open. Also there's a new notifyer.

Here are some of my reasons why gmail is the best:

1GB/1000 MB of space.
Registration is by "Invite" only so it will be hard to get.
Servers are very fast, getting around in gmail is very easy.
Has bugs because it is in beta mode, but when its done it should be bug free.
No flashy adds or really huge adds, nice small text adds which are usally un-seen.
The sooner you get Gmail, the better user name you will get.
You can search your email which is real nice.
Conversations are sorted, whis is also nice.

(still the great one )
