Gmail Cell Phone Text Verification

I sent the following to every Gmail feedback option I could find. (by the way finding a direct Gmail feedback email/link was crazy difficult)
Quote:
I am a librarian at the local public library and for years now I have featured Google, Gmail, and your other online products as the backbone of my formal classes and instructional handouts. Your products are wonderful and I’d love to keep featuring them in my work. But since you’ve suddenly started requiring cell phone text verification to open Gmail accounts I now have to stop focusing on your line of applications and switch to another line that does not require cell phone text verification.

Half or greater of the patrons I serve either do not have easy access to cell phones and/or paid text service or even when they theoretically do they are either older or technologically challenged where this just adds another layer of confusion for them. I’d say I’ve been averaging around 20-40 new Gmail accounts a month and now this will be greatly reduced if not eliminated. I help the low end of the bell curve when it comes to people with financial resources and technological proficiency and without a doubt I can say that requiring cell phone text verification is extremely prohibitive to this portion of society. I know it may seem like we are in an age where everyone has easy access and easy understanding of texting but I assure you the portion of society that I serve do not.

Bottom Line: Please immediately stop requiring cell phone text verification for opening Gmail accounts.

Sincerely,
Carl Long

PS - Please forward this to your supervisor(s) and/or correct department heads

PPS – And it is extremely difficult to find a clear and easy way to send feedback to Gmail
I think requiring text verification is just generally a stupid idea and without a doubt a disservice to the underprivileged.

1) What do you think about it?
2) Anyway to cleanly and easily contact Gmail directly?

Thanks,
Carl
