Oops I Messed Up, Can I Anything To Prevent It?

This is my first post, and yes, I am one of those people who obtained a Gmail invite from an alternative method. Unfortunately I didnt read the forum posts about the banning until after the fact. The problem is that I already registered an account with a name that I will want to use in the future (its my real name), and i am worried that if my account does get flagged i will never be able to get that name back once Gmail does go public.

Any advice? Is there anything that i can do? Crap...

Here is one possible way. Gmail contacts eBay and asks for the sellers and ips of the sellers. Ebay gives list of Gmail sellers to Gmail along with there IP. Gmail goes to there database. Looks up the IPs that eBay gave them. From the IPs they got, they find a person with the same IP. Ebay also gives the IP of the buyer. From there they can match the pieces. They look to see if that person in gave it to the person who bought it. If so, then they can close down the account of the seller. And maybe the buyer too. This is what i think can happen. It doesnt mean they will do it this way. So dont say i am wrong or anything. MY OPINION. Thank you very much.

No offence, but that will never happen. First of all, there would be way too many people to catch. Secondly, Google has no incentive or real purpose to catch the sellers and buyers. It's just a complete waste of time, especially the way you have described considering how many steps it takes. In addition, most people don't even register their ebay account with a gmail address. There's no way Google could find every seller's gmail account without wasting even more resources.

I'm not worried so much HOW they will do it. I'm more worried about them ACTUALLY doing it, since i have read some other posts where people were getting banned...

The chances that it will happen to you are minimal. I'm sure google is just picking accounts randomly from the Ebay info.

It's probably just the obvious ones, the people who say "I sold X an invite" and "I bought X invites and my Gmail address is X" or something.
