Recent spam?

Hi,

I used to hardly get any spam as the Google spam filters were so good.
Recently however a fair bit of spam seems to be coming through.

Has something changed at their end?, or are the spammers getting cleverer at avoiding the filters.

All my spam has been reported.

Now I am getting messages from good users whose messages I have labelled and filtered for my inbox, going into spam.??

One of the reasons I took a Gmail address was for the excellent spam filter.

Ever heard of the old saying 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.??

Spam Filters

I've noticed my spam filter catching a much higher volume of spam in recent months.

If more spam is getting through I can only think of 3 sources:

1) The increase amount of spam being sent out.
2) The creative efforts of some spammers got through (till the next round filter upgrades)
3) You may have recently registered your email somewhere and it increased the number and/or variety of spam you are getting.

If you have your own websites with domain-specific emails, one way to track the source of spam is to use a different email each time you sign up with your email.

For example, I register at XYZ website and my own website is abc.com, I could create a new email associated with this registration (such as XYZ@abc.com) so I can tell if the mailing list gets abused. If I start seeing spam addressed to XYZ@abc.com, I know where it all started.
