Gmail vs. Yahoo. It balances out.
I've been torn between Gmail and Yahoo lately. I despise the fact that Gmail steadfastly refuses to show message size, and "conversations" are for someone other than I.
On the other hand, I very much like the ability to use different e-mail addresses with only a single Gmail account. Gmail also seems to understand the need for more than a handful of filters. Yahoo could definitely provide more and be much more useful to me. In sum, if everything now offered by Gmail and Yahoo had been available from the very beginning, I'd likely go Yahoo. However, I now have a lot of e-mail stored at Gmail and that's definitely a barrier to exit. But if Google again suspends my account for no good reason--and then takes a week to answer why, I'll quickly bite the bullet and go Yahoo. That's definitely the case should they answer without providing any explanation, as they did. And, a warning would have been nice--although I was doing *nothing* wrong. It was a darn good thing I have all e-mail also copied to a Yahoo account. I was forced to use it while Google ruminated--and came very close to not returning to Gmail. And after seeing the whims of Gmail, I am now fully prepared to switch over in no time at all. Oh, and all of the above easily places Hotmail in last place, if it even deserves that high a ranking. Microsoft truly does not get the very obvious at times. Hotmail is as bad now as it was from the beginning. Nope, make that worse now because of the storage times. For the times, Hotmail was halfway decent before Microsoft turned it into a "Microsoft product." Walla and Xasa both beat the pants off of Hotmail. Nope, Hotmail doesn't even deserve last place in this poll. |

I like gmail the best, but Yahoo and Hotmail are far better than they once were. You can now search within mail in all of them, which is very handy. Gmail is going to be awesome when it gets out of beta.
