I got hacked...
Yea I know it's my fault, you don't have to tell me that. At that time I had a weak AV, so it wouldn't pick up the keylogger. I wide out my windows and changed all my passwords and scanned my pc. The only thing that I know of, that got hacked was my gmail.(why would you hack a free email is beyond me) I tried to log in but it gave me an incorrect password. Everything was changed, my second email, secret question, etc.
I know I can just get another gmail account but I had lots of important stuff. (contact, emails, some games don't allow you to change emails.) I know that theres a chance all of this can be delete but I'm willing to try. I contacted gmail and send me the forgot password link.(won't work, the hacker changed my secret question) The only prove that I got are, the email that the invite was sent. Tho, I can no longer use that email caused I changed internet providers. The password/My first and last name that I used when I first created gmail. I think I saved the link to the invite but chances are, I throw it away. I also thought about hacking my own email but there are too many solution of what the password can be. Anyone have any other ideas? I know the hacker hasn't used the account because after 5days, you are able to bring up the secret question. If you prefer to help thur IM, tell me. Thanks. |

They are usually installed either by the user, that downloads and executes a program that he believes to be something else (sometimes from peer-to-peer), or by someone that has extensive access to the machine. This could also have been done if the system was insecure (unfirewalled), but it takes a fair degree of recklessness on the part of someone at the computer. That's why the first (but not only) place I'd look is to those with physical access to the machine. Using a process monitor first, to determine if the logger was trying to go online, and which address it was trying to contact, would have been the surest way of tracking the interloper. But determining how it was installed might also be of benefit. But as so often happens when more than one person has access to a computer, nobody knows anything, did anything wrong, or can offer any explanation. He can probably only hope that Google will eventually investigate and return his account. I wouldn't count on it happening quickly, if at all, or having his emails intact. Another cautionary tale about prevention. |

Your computer was probably trojaned. The software (server) that logs the keystrokes can be a very small file about 500 - 600 kb. the server creates a text file on your computer of your keystrokes. This file is either emailed to the hacker or sent directly to a client located on the hackers computer live.
Every time your computer connects to the net, the server located on your computer connects to a website (usually hosted on those free hosting servers,) and downloads the ip address of the hacker. The server located on your comp then connects to the downloaded ip and feeds live keystrokes to the hacker. These trojans are normally transfered to your comp through email attachments or they can be attached to software install packages that you download from the net... ie. the hacker can package any software with the trojan.. so you would think ur installing something while ur actually installing the trojan and the software. Now all you had to do was find the server file using ur anti virus and use a programming decoder to decode the server source code and read the website/email address of the hacker. This way you can bust the hacker |

I was talking in past tense... I mean u can still do it but u would have to recover your old files and "try" to find the server... but u don even kno wat to look for so i guess there is a very low chance that you can do that now :S
