A Major Change in Gmail

There's been a major change in Gmail -- the sponsored links and related pages are in a box below the email, instead of beside it.

Also, the invites are in a blue bar above the buttons for archive, report spam, etc.

An edit: so far the first change only seems to be affecting some accounts.

Also, a new account got some invites for the first time.

The ads are still next to my email, but that doesn't matter, the invite change is very good. My friends always asked me how they'd know if they had invites, and I had to keep saying "bottom left below the labels" and then they didn't have any (obviously, they just got an account) and asked if I was sure. Now, I can jsut say "You'll know if u have an invite."

But does anyone know if they are responding to feedback you send? I sent one a long time ago and no response, and I don't think they listened.

Yeah, i think they are turning Gmail into Orkut.. NO not making it slow, but making invites pretty much unlimited. I give away my 6 invites and the next day i check my email and i have 6 more. I kind of hope they keep it invite only, to prevent bots from making accounts.

Keep up the great work Gmail!!!! lol

I actually think keeping gmail invite only is a good idea, even for when its public, so that, as the above said, bots don't get it, and some other things. If it becomes too open, it will then also be open to a lot more spam, and gmail will have to start focusing more on more servers than new features. And I hope that never happens, cuz that is what made all the other emails so bad, they stopped changing.

i had mused earlier in this forum, that gmail should continue with the policy of invites even after going to public.

I concur. It allows people to choose the username they want.

But were they to do that they should at least have a demo account for the people that just want to "try it out".

A demo account could work wonders.
