Sign Out problem

I have more than one Gmail account, and I can't use the Sign Out feature to open another account. When I use the Sign Out feature, Gmail just doesn't do anything. I have to close the current account and reopen another.
This is my first post, and I think Gmail is the best. But, this sign out thing is a big pain.

Have you tried cleaning out your cookies?
Also, if you're going to sign in and out of different accounts, remember to not use the "remember me on this computer" sign-in.
Which browser, by the way?

I removed all the cookies associated with Google, stopped the "remember me", and the problem still occurs. I am using Firefox 1.0.6.

Hmmm. Do you use the Password Manager? You might next trying clearing the saved passwords,
and then, cleaning other items like form info and clearing the cache.

Well, it looks like we finaly hit it. I don't know who was the culprit, but I cleared the passwords, form info, and cleared the cache, and the 'sign out' now works OK. Thanks for your help.

Probably not related to your problem, but you may want to update your Firefox to the latest version.

Sign off problem

Thanks for all your help. I thought the problem was cured by doing everything that was suggested, but after a while the problem came back. Sign out just does not work. If I want to check out my multiple Gmail accounts I have to close and reopen Gmail each time.

I'm going to install the latest Firefox version, 1.5 and see what happens.

Extensions I would recommend for Firefox 1.5:

ADBLOCK for deleting ads on a website - search for AdBlock List on Google for lists to download

FLASHBLOCK for replacing flash with a click to view button

FITT'S BACK BUTTON makes the Back button enlarge. It sounds bad but it's actually brilliant.

GMAIL MANAGER is a GMail Notifier for multiple accounts.

GREASEMONKEY to add delete button to GMail and to skin any webstie (including your GMail inbox)

Okay, good luck with the new version.
Just a reminder, too, to watch how you are currently, or auto-signed-in to all Google services.
Signing out of Gmail won't help, if you haven't signed out of other things like Orkut, or the personalized home page/search, etc.

I can't find the thread, at the moment, but another member suggested an approach that I now use.
Since I'm the only user of this computer, and security isn't an issue, I use shortcuts to go directly to a specific account.
The form is:
Code:
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth?service=mail&passive=true&continue=http://mail.google.com&Email=(username)&Passwd=(password)
This works well, but obviously must be used with caution, due to security risk to your account.

Sign Out Problem

Sometimes, computers are absolutely weird. I tried using the shortcut you described. They, all four, worked fine. And, guess what? If I use the shortcut there is no Sign Out problem. If I don't use the shortcut, but sign on from Gmail home panel, I cannot sign out using the Sign Out feature. It's a wonder we all aren't going bananas.
