Secure Login

As we all are beta testers of Gmail...
What do you think of more than 1 user(s) logging on to a single (same) mail account at the same time?
Well.. My opinion is... it shouldn’t be that way..
Gmail has this error (according to my knowledge, coz I tried ) its lets more than 1 user logging on to a same mail account at the same time...
See... If someone else gets my password and logs in, incidentally at the same time if I also try to log in, the email provider should notify stating "you have already signed in"& to give some kind of an option to cancel the previous signing in & to restart again.
Perhaps it’s rather good to state somewhere in the corner about the last signing in details... so that it would help the user to know whether his/her password has been revealed... this would help to gain extra accurate secure mail system..

p.s what happend to the site www.googlecommunity.com

Interesting question, and I'm not quite sure what my answer is, yet.

Now, strictly speaking actually having more than one user for the same account is in violation of the TOS, so you might expect it reasonable to prevent that.

On the other hand, what about one user accessing the account by different means? I often have my account open, and logged in on a browser tab in the background. I wouldn't want to have to be signed out, in order to have another program do automatic checking, and notification of new mail.

Perhaps, just a notification, or an icon display somewhere on the page, to indicate that the account was being accessed by more than one means at a time, would be good.
But if someone's got your password, preventing them from logging on at the same time as you happen to be, isn't much of an extra security measure.

(Oh, and there's a temporary problem with the domain registrar, that will be sorted in the next day or two. See the GC Announcements forum for details.)

If you had selected "Remember me on this computer", so that you are automatically signed in, would just opening two windows/tabs mean that you were looged in twice???

Not in the same browser. You'd be still using the same cookies, that would treat it as the same session.

but, what if you didnt know that someone else got to know your password, and the person is using(violating) your own account to get details & etc. isnt it bad?
so, incidentally you sign in to see that someone else is surfing in your things.. wouldnt it bug?
something like your idea, as to notify that 1 more user is surfing would be helpful...

Yes, this is really the best security measure. I used to use a simpler one that was easy to remember,
but would sometimes get several notifications a week of a "password change request" that someone was trying to make for my account.

So I made it very long, very random, and change it on a regular basis.

As for "multiple log-ins"; it seems a sensible precaution that there would be some kind of warning mechanism, if the account was simultaneously accessed from more than one IP address.
