Gmail low on space? Spam messages deleted after 30 days

Looking in my Spam box, I see this at the top:

Never saw it before. Are they trimming the waste?

Definately new. Kept seeing that same piece of spam in the spam section after I got it months and months ago!

Anyway, doubt that they're lacking in space. I'm guessing that this is just a bit of cleanup for the Gmail beta-testers. =)

they said spam and trash would be emptyed after 30 days, but that hasn't been thecase for me. the warning is new.

This is probably just to cut down on their costs. While they're probably perfectly capable of hosting more than 150 terabytes--maybe even petabytes (I think that's the word), it probably costs a hell of a lot more for them. So it's still a good thing for everyone to delete useless Gmail emails--if just to help a little.

that sucks.. I hope that gmail would like do a vote or something instead of just doing stuff..

Unless an important email got into your spam folder and you didn't check it for 30 days =S lol.
