Why switch?

I already have two email accounts. What would make me want to switch to gmail? I received an invitation the other day from a friend. Should I have taken her up on it?

Does a bear shit in the woods??? Is the Pope Catholic???

EDIT:
You will not regret switching to Gmail. Actually, when you sign up it addresses those exact concerns that you are expressing and will assist you(and not pressure you) to completely move email addresses. So open the account before the invite expires and take a look around, you won't regret it. I promise.

mondine is an unknown quantity at this point
Why "switch" indeed? No reason to not have another account. Even if you don't make it your primary one.
Aside from all the handy features, and enormous storage, well, you just never know when having another email account will come in handy.

It's useful for things like storing essays, or homework that you've done on the computer....that way if you forget something, you can easily just print it off in school, and you don't get into trouble

What I also meant to say in my last post was that, in not pressuring you, the initial email you get from Google tells you not to rush into it and change. They want you to feel comfortable with it and like the service before you make the leap.

But as Mondine said, why switch completely? You can use a couple different ones, then when you find the service you like, make that one your primary.

i use gmail exclusively. i have my two other accounts forwarded to gmail. does it even have all the features i want? no. it doesn't. i want a notepad and a calendar, and yahoo! mail has both of those features.

the main reason i stick with gmail (and always will)innovation: they are just a step ahead on most things, and i rest assured that they will have everything i want in the future.

text-based, relevant ads only. i logged into my old yahoo! mailbox the other day and couldn't even find where to click to get the inbox. ads everywhere!

searching is a priority with google and that makes life so much easier. conversations, labels, multiple accounts. gmail is the bomb.

I use Thunderbird because I prefer TBird's threaded view to Gmail's conversation view because Gmail's doesn't always work. Plus, there are NO ADS AT ALL.

You can block the ads of Yahoo mail and hotmail by using Adblock

i've never had conversation view not work. thunderbird is a resource hog, and i like the relevant ads that gmail uses, i use them every once in a while. i don't want them to be gone, i want them to not be big and flashy.

They can be useful sometimes, but I find that they waste space. The Gmail conversation view often doesn't work especially when the subject line has been changed.

Wikipedia agree with me:

Quote:
Gmail's algorithm for determining how conversations fit together is not perfect, however: Single conversations sometimes become fragmented (especially when a replier changes the e-mail's subject line) and unrelated conversations occasionally become attached together. Conversations split into two separate storage sections if there are more than 150 messages, sometimes resulting in 5 or 6 chunks making up a whole conversation. Another drawback was that the entire conversation gets deleted if the user deleted one single e-mail which was a part of that conversation, but this was fixed when a "Trash This Message" button was added.
